With so many vulnerable patients, managing any risk posed by the spread of disease, viruses, or bacteria in hospitals is essential.
Infection prevention is a crucial step in any medical environment, and it is common knowledge that protocols like hand washing and sanitizing equipment contribute to this.
People have less understanding however of the role the material you choose for walls, doors, handles, and other surfaces can play in improving overall hygiene and safety.
That’s where we come in. We provide a range of hygienic, eco-designed wall products that help with sanitization, cleanliness, infection control and maintaining high health standards.
What Is Antibacterial Wall Protection?
Wall protection is designed to guard your building against impact. In a busy hospital environment, something as simple as a bump from a trolley or wheelchair can lead to scratching, dents, paint chips, and more. Not only is this less aesthetically appealing, but it can also mean costly repairs.
Wall protection also supplies a hygienic, easy-to-clean surface for your hospital surfaces. Inherently designed to reduce the presence of harmful bacteria on surfaces, it’s commonly found in medical facilities, food processing areas or public spaces.
How Antibacterial Wall Protection Works
Antimicrobial agents in wall protection disrupt bacteria’s growth and development. Some materials have special textures or coatings that make it difficult for bacteria to stick to the surface, further reducing risks.
Additionally, materials with antibacterial and antimicrobial properties are resistant to moisture and organic materials, meaning mould is much less likely to occur than other materials like timber.
This leads to a quick and easy disinfection process for surfaces covered by this protection, leaving your staff with more time for patient care.
To clean your wall protection, use warm water, a gentle detergent like dish soap, and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleaches, or abrasive cleaning tools, as they are unnecessary and can damage your wall protection. When cleaned properly, it will retain its texture and colour for years to come.
We always recommend speaking to an expert for more information about maintaining protected surfaces.
The Challenge of Infection and Disease Spread in Hospitals
Disease spread is a major cause for concern in any hospital due to the vulnerability of the patients, especially those with compromised immune systems. Viruses and bacteria can spread through various means, including person-to-person contact, surfaces, and lack of sanitisation or cleanliness.
It’s vital to have precautions, measures and strategies in place to avoid transmission rates among patients, visitors, and staff. Patient safety during treatment is essential for maintaining a reliable health system and care facilities.
Sydney Hospitals Using Antibacterial Wall Protection
Wall protection is a stylish way to provide impact resistance to your walls while also creating a hygienic, antibacterial environment. It’s a common implementation in many hospitals across Sydney.
